Living away from family and home-town brings in many memories that we always cherish,
and after my last trip to my home I always wish I can go back to the place I belong to..

You always miss your home, no matter where-ever you are.
Indeed I live here with my husband and daughter, but I always miss my home, my home-town, the place where I am belong to..

My last trip home was special, and will always be. I enjoyed my most of the time with nature, beautiful mornings and singing birds..
And my this painting is about them only!

Sunrise from our building - I think I have never seen Rising Sun before.. So beautiful and calm..

How lucky I was, that I met these beautiful birds almost every morning.
I am not a morning person but those days, I never mind to wake up at 5 AM. Its just I wanted to see them singing, flying and having fun on this beautiful Indian Coral tree.
It was March and this beautiful tree was blooming. Gorgeous red flowers and my beautiful green birds, what an awesome color combination.
After coming back, when I gathered all these memories, they inspired me to create this painting.

The South Indian couple - A customized Art-work

Learning traditions is something I enjoy the most.
Being a Gujarati I am still don't know many of the tradition, so its something makes me curious and I always find a grate interest learning them.

I was asked to make a portrait for my South Indian client. In-fact I loved her idea.
Krithika wanted to surprise her husband on their anniversary... It was their wedding day picture.
We discussed for few days and then she send her few wedding pictures, and explained me some of the traditions and rituals.. I would say I might not be able to make it without her help.

The south Indian Couple - Acrylics on 14" x 16" Canvas

This is the portrait of South Indian Tamil Bhramin / Iyer Couple.
Like every traditions they have their unique customs..
Initially I made one for her before starting my work.. where I add all the elements she wanted..

And sharing list of the details Krithika explained..

  • Traditional jewelry, hair ornaments, nose ring, waist belt, arm band, etc with bindi in tear drop shape
  • Kanjeevaram silk saree design
  • Mango leaves, banana tree with fruit, Mogra for hair and garlands with rose maybe
  • Gold and Red color in saree is very traditional combo usually-forgot to tell you...

Every detailing made it so beautiful! And my honest efforts to deliver her vision..
This is my last click with the painting, before I shipped it..

I truly enjoy my work, and specially in customized art-work, because its your dream, and I am filling colors in it.

See you soon my dear readers..

Self Portrait - Rachana

I must admit that I took such a long time to share my this painting.
May be I was little scared to share it...

Today I am sharing the painting I completed with so many patience and so many great attempts.
Every artist would try to make self portrait at-least once , and this was my third attempt.

acrylics, indian art, folk art, Rachana saurabh, self-portrait, portrait
Rachana - Self Portrait - Acrylics on 8 x 12 Canvas

I never thought to make self-portrait until I took my this picture for Mitti Design's  Zumka earrings collection..
As I mentioned earlier, I always wanted to make my portrait, but every time I ended up mt thoughts
after making sketch.. But this time sketch was so perfect and I was so happy to take next step..
Sharing picture of initial sketch.

I always had fear of spoiling it, so I didn't add any extra things in it. I just wanted to make it perfect.. :)
After so many thoughts and lots of patience I finished this painting on the New year's evening.
And took time of some 20 days to finally share it with you all..
Parakeet was not the part of my initial sketch, but I always had a feeling of something is missing in my work.. And my husband's imagination of Parrot saying something to me, completed my thoughts.

So, how do you like my new painting?
Don't forget to Leave your comments -  share your thoughts with me, to improve my work.
