Memories

Living away from family and home-town brings in many memories that we always cherish,
and after my last trip to my home I always wish I can go back to the place I belong to..

You always miss your home, no matter where-ever you are.

Indeed I live here with my husband and daughter, but I always miss my home, my home-town, the place where I am belong to..

My last trip home was special, and will always be. I enjoyed my most of the time with nature, beautiful mornings and singing birds..

And my this painting is about them only!

Sunrise from our building - I think I have never seen Rising Sun before.. So beautiful and calm..

How lucky I was, that I met these beautiful birds almost every morning. 

I am not a morning person but those days, I never mind to wake up at 5 AM. Its just I wanted to see them singing, flying and having fun on this beautiful Indian Coral tree.

It was March and this beautiful tree was blooming. Gorgeous red flowers and my beautiful green birds, what an awesome color combination.

After coming back, when I gathered all these memories, they inspired me to create this painting.

Memories - Acrylics on 5 in x 7 in Canvas.

I took 2 days but I was not able to think any other name for this one. 

It has all those moments that I'll cherish life-time, feelings that can never be express. Those beautiful mornings, Blooming red flower tree and singing bird.
My dear Parakeet I wish I could hear your songs every morning..

Self Portrait - Rachana

I must admit that I took such a long time to share my this painting.

May be I was little scared to share it...

Today I am sharing the painting I completed with so many patience and so many great attempts.

Every artist would try to make self portrait at-least once , and this was my third attempt.

I never thought to make self-portrait until I took my this picture for Mitti Design's  Zumka earrings collection..

As I mentioned earlier, I always wanted to make my portrait, but every time I ended up mt thoughts
after making sketch.. But this time sketch was so perfect and I was so happy to take next step..

I always had fear of spoiling it, so I didn't add any extra things in it. I just wanted to make it perfect.. :)
After so many thoughts and lots of patience I finished this painting on the New year's evening.

And took time of some 20 days to finally share it with you all..

 Parakeet was not the part of my initial sketch, but I always had a feeling of something is missing in my work.. And my husband's imagination of Parrot saying something to me, completed my thoughts.

Sakhi - A dear Friend - The Color version :)

Hello my dear readers!

Things always turn the best with patience..

This is my second painting (I guess) I made with lots of patience..lol... More than 4-5 months.. :)

But that works the best in creating such a great master piece..

Presenting my final painting, My lovely ladies - "Sakhi - A dear friend" in Color :) :)

Experimenting with colors this time.. 

And choosing back-ground was a biggest challenge.

I tried more than 4 colors for it.. finally I fall on Magenta :) 

I love love love this color, it just enhanced its look.. What you think????

I big confusion and not satisfied with my work I have put it on hold..

Mean while I get clue what is missing there, I have started my next painting..

Sakhi - A Dear Friend!

Everyday we meet many people but among them we make few friends!

Friends are special, And I would say If Some one stays with you like your shadow in your  happy or tough moments, is your best friend.

In Sanskrit "Sakhi" use for a "Female Friend".

Sakhi - A Dear Friend, Pencil on 11"x15" water color Paper (140lb )

I have never work work pencil, infect pencil shading is something I never tried. You have seen my previous sketches, even I am surprised that how I made it only with pencil.!!!

The one thing I loved most is their expressions, they came our so good, just the way I wanted.

One is holding a bird with Pride and her friend is supporting her like her shadow!

Their eyes explains everything. Even the individual images of both ladies is out of my imagination.

Maaya : Magic in her Eyes

Hello my lovely readers! 

With no further delays, Presenting "Maaya". Lady with magical eyes.

"Maaya " - Acrylics on 9" x 12" Canvas Board.

"Maaya" was my perfect pick for this one I guess. 

When we meet some one first time, the first thing we want to look "whats in his eyes!!" 

Honesty, Love, Cheat.... or...anything.

For woman, that magic in her her eyes always works. And I think Magical eyes and rain, this combination is enough to kill (attract) someone. I want to know how many of you actually agree with me!

One more thing I learned while making this, Rain-drops. I was so scared to make them on this painting, because I was not so sure how it will work on it. But after completing I was 100% happy with my experiment.

That's my reflection on my computer screen. 

I was thinking how my inspiration picture turned in this beautiful "Maaya".

This painting actually inspired me to create a new series of "Maaya", and I will start working on it.

Colors of Gujarat.. Our Culture and Our Traditions..

And I am sharing them by my new painting..

 "રંગીલી ગુજરાતણ"("Rangili Gujaratan") - The village girl of Gujarat

India has all different colors of tradition and rich culture. And my Gujarat is one of them. 

This time my aim was to create something that has colors of Gujarat.

Village girl in Traditional Ghaghra-Choli, lots of Jewelry, view of village, and my favorite Lotus..

Did you noticed that I am adding "Lotus" in almost my every painting..??

Gujarat is very famous for its "Mirror Work" and "Embroidery".

 For me the most difficult and time taking task was to create that same effect in my painting. That you can see on her sleeve, it has similar detailing. 

Traditional Jewelry are made of Gold or Silver, and they wear even in their routine work. Heavy necklaces, lots of Bangles, Zanzar (anklet), and many jewelry. 

Tattoo is very famous these days, but village people (Man and woman ) of Gujarat are using them since ages..

They have tattoo on their Arm, feet, neck, even on their face.

There are many image of woman in traditional dress that I found on a web-site.

Those eyes has one more story...

My next painting, its not completed yet.

But those are magical eyes... 

And I remembe few lines of a Gujarati poem..

"ચુપ રહી ને પણ એ વાત કરે છે,

એ કાંઈ નથી  બોલતા બસ આંખો જ સવાલ કરે છે"...

( Your eyes talk to me, They tell me what you don't say, While you remain silent.)

 I loved this two the most, Padma and Piya Bawari.

 "Padma" means Lotus, and she is madly in love with her beloved and waiting for him (Piya Bawari).

These two are just perfect with this art-work.

Megh : A portrait of sweet memories..!

Megh - Actylics on 9 x 12 Canvas Paper.

Meet Megh, a very close friend of mine. This is her portrait in "CreationS" style.

Her actual name is Meghna, but I call her as "Megh".

I attended her wedding last month and this is portrait describes all that memories..!

Her unique Peacock Jewelry, my favorite, was the easiest way to create her Portrait. 

And trust me she agreed when she saw this painting first time. 

The day I finished this, I surprised her with its first PRINT,

and she said, "Hey that's me..!!"

 I Love peacock, and that's why this is one of my favorite too..!!

Shringar - Miniature work

Shringar - Acrylics on 2" x 3" Canvas , 

I completed this painting last week, but sharing here today.. :)

Shringar is my very first miniature painting, 

a mini version of my old painting of my learning days( inspired one) which I never shared on my blog.. :)

"Shringar" means the adornments of a Woman for beautification.

This one is on 12" x 16" Canvas, and the miniature is one is on 2" x 3" canvas..!!!

 

Working on 2" x 3" canvas was very exiting. 

And the tough job was to take its clear picture with my Cam..!

Many Thanks to my favorite brush, it helped me alot.

માતૃત્વ (Motherhood)

માતૃત્વ ( Motherhood) - Acrylics on 12" x 16" Canvas.

Happy Mother's Day..!!

Mother, (માં, माता,) many name but one meaning " Unconditional Love".

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. And the only day when you cry and your mother smiles.

 Mother's love for her child is some thing that one can not compare. And no other person in this world can take that place in a child's life. A best teacher and a best friend. 

There are many quotes for mother in every language, and there is one in "Gujarati"

"જનનીની જોડ સખી! નહી જડે રે લોલ."

This is a try to express "માતૃત્વ" (Motherhood) through this painting.

Adding few lines of the same song..

અમીની ભરેલ એની આંખડી રે લોલ,

વ્હાલનાં ભરેલાં એના વેણ રે 

જનનીની જોડ સખી! નહી જડે રે લોલ.

Panihari : The water woman of India

Panihari : The water woman of India, 

Mount on 12" x 16" Canvas, Medium - Acrylics.

When I started this painting I was not sure for its name. 

But today morning, I found a video and when I saw it, I got my answer.. Its perfect, "Panihari : The water woman of India". Panihari means "Woman who does the work of carrying water". 

A very important task, and its a routine for all woman who lives in small village.
 Every morning they fetch / Collect water from River, Pond or Well for house-hold purpose. 

Even today in some area of Gujarat & Rajasthan woman does this job. 

This time I experiment with dark colors to give these ladies "गॉव की गोरी " (Village Girl) look.

One more thing I've added here is "The hair decoration" to the woman in red.

Last month we went to "Maximum India Festival" in DC, and something I loved the most is the hair decoration piece, (specially for long braid hair styles) you can see that below..

This has a lot of detailing, a beautiful thing..! And this one is my favorite picture too...

I am Gujarati, and I can not forget my favourite Garbo (Song) that explain more about "Panihari".

Happy Holi to all my colorful readers..!!!

Holi (Basant-Utsav) is a religious festival celebrated mainly in India to welcome the season of Spring

 But the famous region for Holi celebration is Brij, Land of Lord Krishna. According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna started the tradition of playing with colors during the festival.

These days the commercial aspect of celebration has led to an increase

 in the use of synthetic colours. But traditionally the colours are made of Neem, Kumkum, Haldi, Bilva, and other medicinal herbs prescribed by Āyurvedic doctors. 

The spring season, during which the weather changes, is believed to cause viral fever and cold. 

The playful throwing of natural coloured powders has a medicinal significance. For wet colours, traditional flowers of Palash are boiled and soaked in water over night to produced yellow coloured water, which also had medicinal properties.

Kanya Viday - An Emotional Farewell...

Acrylics on 12" x 12" Canvas paper.

Kanya Viday / Bidaai is the Hindu customs in which after marriage, the bride walks out with the Groom from her parent's home into a new world to lay the foundation for an entire new life with new family and a different environment. The tears of joy and sorrow can be witnessed not only on the daughter's face, but also on the Mother's.

And that's what I have tried to express by this painting. Actually this one is for my "Mom".

"Years of bonding and a separation within minutes."

It's hard to describe that feeling her daughter being sent off which runs through a mother's mind and the emotions which fill her heart. Unimaginable it is to see a mother cry and smile at same time by hiding her tears.

  

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts.

A mother always has thought twice, once for herself and once for her child. A daughter is a mother's gender partner, her closest ally in the family confederacy, an extension of herself.

In Gujarati they say "દીકરી તો પારકી થાપણ કહેવાય" ( Dikri to Parki thapan Kevay )

Which can also means – "The farewell of a daughter is inevitable".
